Libby Husske is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in the State of Texas, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Iowa and a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arkansas. Libby is currently pursuing her PhD in Counselor Supervision and Education from the University of North Texas. She is passionate about working with children (3+), teen and adult individuals, as well as couples and families. She enjoys helping clients establish more meaningful and emotionally healthy lives.
Among Libby's areas of expertise are the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, stress, sports and mental health performance, major life transitions, abuse, attachment, substance abuse, grief, family conflict, life transitions, self-esteem, self-harming, behavioral concerns, trauma, relationship concerns and more.
Libby is passionate about continued learning. In addition to her specialized training in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Libby has pursued extensive training in Animal Assisted Therapy and Sport Performance therapy. As a form of evidence based therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic intervention which incorporates trained animals to improve an individual's physical, emotional, social, or cognitive functioning. These sessions can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and boost motivation.
Libby also has extensive training in Child-Centered Play Therapy, a developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approach that allows children to communicate their thoughts, express their feelings, and discover their inner resources in a way that is natural to them. She partners with caregivers to provide them with tools to support their child's continued growth and healing outside of the play room. In her work with adolescents and adults, she utilizes client-centered therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual’s needs and goals.
As former D1 volleyball player and having pursed specialized training in Sports Performance therapy, Libby has a passion for and enjoys working with athletes and sports performance con- cerns. She can help with the following:
