Dr. Chen has worked extensively with children and teens experiencing generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), major depressive disorder (MDD), anger regulation issues, behavioral challenges, and social difficulties associated with ADHD and Autism. Dr. Chen is also well versed in treating children and families affected by trauma, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, grief, and more.
Dr. Chen is certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is an evidence based modality which can help individuals identify and change distorted or upsetting beliefs, while also teaching coping skills like relaxation, mindfulness, and reframing thoughts. TF-CBT can help individuals better understand normal reactions to traumatic experiences, which in turn helps to reduce feelings of guilt. TF-CBT can help with symptoms of post-traumatic stress, depression, behavioral concerns, and caregiver difficulties.
Prior to joining Blank Slate Therapy, Dr. Chen spent time providing outpatient therapy in a non-profit setting, and as a school psychologist. She has extensive experience conducting assessments for ADHD, Autism, PTSD, OCD, mood disorders, selective mutism, and other anxiety-related disorders.
Fluent in both English and Chinese, Dr. Chen strives to provide a supportive and compassionate environment to help facilitate change and growth. She looks forward to meeting you!
