DJ is a licensed therapist with a specialized focus on helping children (6+), adolescents, adults, and families navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. Her clinical work centers on issues such as family conflict, emotional dysregulation, self-injurious behavior, suicidality, and complex custody dynamics. With a compassionate yet structured approach, she creates a safe and focused environment where clients can begin making meaningful change.
Drawing from extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and play-based modalities, DJ tailors each treatment plan to meet the developmental and relational needs of her clients. Her therapeutic style is warm, direct, and insight-driven—balancing empathy with accountability to support lasting progress. In addition to individual counseling and group therapy, she has provided anger management, psycho-educational, and skills training classes to promote real-world coping mechanisms and emotional resilience.
DJ earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas and went on to complete a master’s degree in Professional Counseling at Dallas Baptist University. In addition to her primary counseling license, she has pursued advanced clinical training to support clients facing complex emotional and behavioral struggles, including anger management, risk assessment, risk management, and relapse prevention.
DJ’s approach goes beyond credentials—it’s her time spent in the room with clients that has shaped her counseling style the most. She has a deep interest in helping others explore, grow, heal, reconnect with self, and relate to others. She understands that this can only happen when clients feel safe, seen, and strong enough to express themselves. Whether supporting a teen in crisis or guiding a family through high-conflict transitions, DJ is committed to helping her clients feel equipped, empowered, and genuinely understood.
