As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Helena offers extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adult individuals, couples and families. She brings a diverse array of professional experience from educational, nonprofit and private practice settings.
Helena is a compassionate and perceptive listener, offering each client a comfortable and safe environment. Gifted in establishing rapport quickly, Helena's approach focuses on empathetic guidance, identification of client strengths, and replacing destructive patterns.
Helena specializes in treating adult individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, suicidal ideation, divorce and relationship concerns, identity issues, anger and low self-esteem. With previous experience as a School Counselor and Teacher in the Houston area, Helena also has a passion for working with children and adolescents, ages 6 and up. In addition to childhood anxiety and depressive disorders, she can help with childhood behavioral disorders, anger, and ADHD. Helena enjoys utilizing play therapy, art therapy, and activity therapy with clients ages 6-11.
Helena received her bachelor of science degree in Psychology-Texas Wesleyan University, and Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. Helena is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology and Christian Counseling. Helena has pursued additional training as a Certified School Counselor and a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist. She ascribes to evidence based practices including Solution-Focused therapy, Creative Art Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
